In Japan, I wish I did not have to sleep

I am currently following Nedry’s tour in Japan, and it has been absolutely brilliant, despite being constantly pushed by time.

The days are similar in their planning (transport mayhem, soundcheck, eat, play, drink, drink, blog, sleep) and yet so different. My senses are overloaded with faces, places, sounds. I am always tired and constantly carrying 12 kilos of equipment in my backpack, going from one venue to another, filming with one hand whilst carrying an umbrella in the other, wishing that I had a third arm to take pictures.

Despite the exhaustion that everyone is sharing, there is a constant feel of optimism and an always vibrant and joyful vibe with us. We are sleeping a few centimeters from one another, carrying each other’s bag, guitar case, stand… ‘Easy going’ is being taken to a whole new level. I feel so lucky to be around Ayu, Matt, and Chris, as they have such a humble and inspiring attitude towards their music and their audience.

Japan itself is another planet, and I’m just skimming through it.

We will not go to the imperial palace, we will not make it to the observation tower but none of this really matters because what I experience here is so intense human-wise that I feel like a classic form of tourism would be missing the point.

I will post other photos soon, the weather was finally sunny again, and I have some street pictures that I want to share.
