Nikon D200 + Sigma 18-200 | 1/200sec at f/7.1, ISO 200 | B&W conversion in Lightroom
Several friends of mine have recently invested in a brand new SLR and asked me if I could teach them the ‘basics’ of photography. Since there were several, I decided it would be easier and more fun to do a little group session. This is all happening in London, on the 19th of May 2009, and it’s free. It’s not exclusive to people I know, so feel free to join the event on Facebook!
Description below:
I will be giving an hour and a half photography workshop around the City. The aim is to teach you how to master the technique in order to create more personal pictures.
This is not a classroom lesson: we will be taking pictures most of the time and you will learn from examples and mistakes.
If you ask yourself one of those questions, then this is for you:
- camera basics: what speed is too slow? why are all my pictures blurry? what’s this ISO thing and why I should care?
- depth of field: what it is and how to control it using f-stops?
- how can I compose my pictures better? what is the rule of third and how can I use it to improve my pictures?
In order to keep the experience as useful and enjoyable as possible, the event is limited to 3 people. If it is successful, more will be planned!
Please note that you will need a SLR to enjoy the little walk fully, or at least a bridge with manual controls.
I’l let everyone know how it goes and hopefully post some good shots taken that day.
